(12/07) Mori-Seiki NT3150 DCG/1000SZ  High-Precision, High Efficiency Integrated Mill-Turn Center

The NT Series integrated mill turn center provides full lathe and machining center capabilities in one package with DCG(TM) (Driven at Center of Gravity) technology, and turret with built-in milling motor.  The NT’s B-axis utilizes a direct drive motor.  Indexing specifications for the axis cater to high precision machining requirements, allowing for input by units of 0.0001 degrees.  Max spindle speed is 5,000 rpm, max tool spindle speed is 12,000 rpm. 

The machines' ATC (Automatic Tool Changer) features a tool-to-tool change time of just 1 sec. and chip-to-chip time of only 3.4 sec.  The NT is equipped with 40 tool storage capacity.

Special attention to thermal displacement allows the NT to perform at the highest levels of accuracy and precision. The lower turret is located symmetrically in relation to the center of the spindle, forming a construction resistant to the effects of heat. Additionally, ball screw and motor jacket cooling have been implemented to completely eradicate

The J&L Metrology Comparator has a 30" diameter screen with interchangeable lenses.  It features mercury arc projection and digital readout with resolution of .00005.  This addition to our inspection equipment will assist us in critical profile and feature location checking of orthopedic instruments, measuring tools and implants using customer-supplied overlays.

(2/07)  Mori-Seiki ZT-1500YB Twin Spindle/Twin Turret Lathe

Mori-Seiki NL-2500SY Lathe with Live MillingThe ZT1500YB is a compact 65 mm dia. (2.5 in.) "large bar work" machine, the most compact in the world of its kind with a maximum 8-inch class bar work capacity.  To ensure the machine would have unrivalled bar work capacity as well as high output, high rigidity, and a compact size, the spindle's built-in motor was designed from the ground up. The turret comes equipped with quick-change specifications as a standard feature* which allows rapid exchange of tools in each holder to match the type of machining that is being done. Additionally, the Y-axis travel for the upper turret is set to ±50 mm (±2.0 in.) – the largest in its class.  The ZT Series of dual-processing turning centers features a two-spindle/two turret machine design. Two spindle stocks with the same capacity are placed opposite each other, and turrets that can be moved along the X- and Z- axis are located above and below the spindle center. In order to deliver optimum process balance in a self-contained two-step process, workpieces on either of the spindles can be accessed from either of the turrets, on top or below.

Mori-Seiki NL-2500SY Lathe with Live MillingThe NL2500Y has been developed to provide the milling capabilities of a machining center on a lathe. The NL CNC lathe features a milling motor inside the turret, which is directly coupled to the milling tool.  The NL can reduce tool spindle acceleration time by two-thirds and can reduce vibration and noise by one-half. Measures have been taken to minimize the effects of heat displacement as well as improve machining accuracy. The lathe's turning capacity accommodates a 14.0" diameter and 27.7" length. The lathe is in the 10" chuck size class and commands a maximum bar work diameter of 3.1". Additionally, the inclusion of 4.0" Y-axis movement serves to provide flexibility and off-center machining.
